Update: Daly told the Golf Channel that after missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open that he’s done with golf. “I’m done,” Daly said. “I can’t compete. I can’t play like I use too. I can’t keep taking spots from guys out here playing this bad. It’s not worth it.”

Recommendation: It’s not clear if he’s serious about retiring or if he was just frustrated after a poor tournament where he shot 79-71 in his two rounds. He has a reality show premiering in March on the Golf Channel, so that would seem to indicate he’ll keep playing. However, these comments won’t make it easier for him to get sponsor exemptions to tournaments (he’s playing without a PGA Tour card) since he seems more risky to withdraw in frustration early from tournaments.
